An Introduction To Upcoming Novel - Autumn's Five Seasons

I would like to introduce my second novel, Autumn's Five Seasons, to you. It is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2011. This book is an exciting read for both men and women! You won't believe some of the many twist and turns it takes. You'll be shocked! I suggest you read both my previous books before this one because you'll have an extra appreciation for this novel, but it's not necessary. My intro is a letter to you. Happy reading and blessings always!

Readers,

I started writing this particular story in 2007. I think two pages were completed…maybe, disappointed to say the least. This story kept getting interrupted because I was trying to make sense of a personal tragedy.
I quickly came to realize that it isn’t that easy to write a novel. I asked myself, what am I doing? Could I come up with that type of story? I also worried that I didn’t have that kind of imagination. And last, I questioned, would I be able to create not one, but five interesting men that correlate to perfection with Guys 1 through 5, in Black Love: A Book of Poetry & Love; my first book which inspired this novel. As I worked on the character, Lem, from my first novel, Beauty in Pain, I realized the answer was certain; it was an unequivocal yes!
Without my book of poems there would not have been a follow-up idea. Without Beauty in Pain, specifically, chapter 13, this book truly would not exist. I have noticed that my entire life keeps coming together in support of itself.  God has been so good to me and always has been, even when I was too naive to know it.
I can’t wait for you to read Autumn’s Five Seasons! You can enjoy it, knowing two things about this particular novel. First, I was raised to this occasion and second, the men have come to life for you.

A Letter To Our Father

If you feel this way, please do not give in to the negativity. I urge you to hold on and get suitable help when needed.

Dear God,

I heard that some people write letters when they have reached a breaking point. These letters can be cathartic ramblings or a good-bye. So, here's mine.

Today was awful. It may have been one of the worst days of life. I felt like I was drowning and like there is no point to all that I am going through. I can't breath sometime because I'm so sad...it's hard to go on...  I feel, there is nothing left for me to do, yet I praise your holy name.

I will continue to praise you. I will seek all the goodness that you have for me. I will not give up because I know that I am important you and your children. I am your child. Things will get better and I will get help, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Choosing to say hello,

Your Ever Faithful Child

A Love Letter

Dearest love of mine,

You are one of the true loves of my life. Even before I knew of you, I knew that Isaiah spoke to heart. I have loved you from the moment that I knew of your existence. Yes, it's true, I do love you because your lineage, but that's not all. You are so much more than that. I love you more everyday because you are simply you. I thank God for you. He has enhanced my life with yours.

God bless you my dear grandson.

Beethoven - Love Letters of Great Men

If you are a regular viewer, you know that on occasion I like to share a letters with my readers.  Today's letter comes from Beethoven - Love Letters of Great Men.  I found it on Romance Class.  Parts of this letter were used in the Sex in City movie.

Beethoven - Love Letters of Great Men

Good morning, on July 7

Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us - I can live only wholly with you or not at all - Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits - Yes, unhappily it must be so - You will be the more contained since you know my fidelity to you. No one else can ever possess my heart - never - never - Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves. And yet my life in V is now a wretched life - Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men - At my age I need a steady, quiet life - can that be so in our connection? My angel, I have just been told that the mailcoach goes every day - therefore I must close at once so that you may receive the letter at once - Be calm, only by a calm consideration of our existence can we achieve our purpose to live together - Be calm - love me - today - yesterday - what tearful longings for you - you - you - my life - my all - farewell. Oh continue to love me - never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.

ever thine
ever mine
ever ours

Alice Benton's Blog Reader Appreciation

Today, I wanted to share with you how rewarding writing can be to a writer.  Many of my blog readers have blessed me with behind the scenes emails about how Alice Benton's Blog has affected them.  I love knowing that I have helped or inspired some of you.  You are appreciated too.

Below, is an email that truly touched my heart.  It was in response to the God is in Control post.  I have shortened it, as well as edited it for privacy.  It read:

Alice,

I read your blog and was moved by the spirit of God which flowed in its words.  God is so good and confirms His word using some of the most unlikely ways to show Himself.  Today, He used you.

Reading your blog reminded me that no matter what my plans may be, God is the one who is in control.  He set my path a long time ago and to its end I must follow His will.

Please honor me by considering me your friend, one concerned for you and your families well being.  Someone pleased to see our God working so strongly in your life.  I will keep you in my prayers as I pray you do the same for me.

One Mother's Letter to Her Children

When you were given to me, God didn't tell me what you would become. He didn't let me know how you would look. He didn't warn me of your struggles or let me know of your achievements. He only let me know that for a time you are mine.

He knew I didn't need much. He wanted me to do my best to take care of you. So God gave me the one thing that would ensure that for you. He instilled within me unconditional love for you and knew that was enough. Never fear losing my love. It is the constant in your life.

Loving you always,
Mom
