The Charity: Ball Gala 2011

The Charity: Water Ball was a huge success! The 69th Regiment Armory was packed with fun-loving, donation-giving, party goers from all over. It was truly a great crowd, which translated into a party to remember.

There were wonderful speeches given by Scott Harrison, the Charity: Water founder and Jessica Biel, the evenings host. Tyler Perry also graced the stage as famed special guest auctioneer for the live auction.

There were a variety of unique activities this ball. There were sponsored water walks in the middle of the gala floor. There were also varied stations set up around the room to encourage charitable moments. Also included was an eclectic deejay and awesome eats.

I was stationed at the small donations wall where, the founder himself got the ball rolling by purchasing the first light bulb. The idea was to light up a village with clean water and by the end most of it was. This particular station represented a water project in Cambodia.

The ball was terrific! Great work Charity: Water!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2011

Did you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month? Probably! It's hard to miss all the things that have suddenly turned pink. Some of us have been planning for this month well in advance, while the rest of us need a little push.

It's not to late to participate! Susan G Komen for the Cure has listed many ways for you to get involved. The organization has created a schedule of ways to help the cause this month. You only have to be willing. So take a look and find something that's right for you.

Please remember that breast cancer doesn't only affect women. Men are also diagnosed with it. Get the breast facts for men.  Also check out the American Cancer Society website. They are the official sponsor of More Birthdays, as well as a great resource for learning about cancer in general and how to stay healthy.

Happy Birthday Charity Water!

Please join Alice Benton's Blog in wishing Charity Water a very happy birthday! Wednesday, September 7, 2011, the Charity Water organization turned five! It was a very exciting day because that's five years of assisting individuals, as well as whole communities.

Usually, Charity Water birthdays are spent in the field, but this year was different. The Charity Water Team stayed busy on location in New York. I was one of many volunteers who was happily allowed to spend the day with them. There was a birthday video created in the office today and yes, yours truly can be found in the background briefly along with many other volunteers. Later in the evening, was Charity Water's birthday party. It was wonderful!

More importantly, is what has been accomplished within five years. This organization has helped over two million people obtain clean and safe water, in nineteen countries. That is simply amazing! May they continue to celebrate more birthdays while further blessing the world.

World Changer

When you were growing up, what did you want to become?  A doctor?  Singer?  Teacher?  Perhaps all of these professions at once? Most people have changed the answer to that question quite a few times over the years.  Even as an adult, some feel the need to refine it once or twice.

I was no different, although, one thing never changed.  I always wanted to be a positive world changer.  Regardless of the field, I wanted to be of service to mankind and make the world a better place.  Today, I remain the same. I still want to do good and spread love throughout the globe.

No matter what you do for a living, think about how you can use it to improve life and help people.  Or think outside of your workstation. Create a group that is all about being progressive in the world. Remember, one person can make a difference and change the world.

Help Our World

Help our world. I know it sounds cliche, but we can actually make it better. We can leave the world in a better place than we inherited.

When you stop and think about it there is much to be improved upon. There are some really great things about this planet, but there are also things that need our assistance. Think of ways to increase the good around you.

Every person can make a difference! Ask yourself, what can I do? You may be into water like I am. If not, you too can find a charity that speaks to your heart. The call to help the planet is different for everyone. Pay attention and you'll find your cause.

World Water Week

World Water Week is a special time allotted towards focusing on the water issues on our planet.  There are many things going on all over the globe regarding water, more likely, the lack of clean water.  This is always a problem but this week specifically there are extra campaigns demonstrating ways to help.

Want to do your part?  If you enjoy sitting down for a great meal with friends this might be for you.  Simply decide where to go out for dinner carefully this week.  Dine at a UNICEF Tap Project Restaurant and help further the cause.  You can also gather more information from Charity: Water Log, which is the Charity Water Organization's blog.  It has some exceptional information about water news.

Serve Humanity through Charity Water

Consider donating to Charity Water.  This organization has commited itself to bringing clean water to some of the poorest nations in the world.  This charity is amazing.  I learned that it only takes $20 to provide clean water to one person for 20 years.  That fact is one of many facts that got me in to it, but donate what you can.
You can access this organization at http://www.charitywater.org.
